Even with the postponement of this year’s Red White and Boom! fireworks display, residents of the Quad-Cities area still have plenty of options to celebrate theFourth of July. Below is a list of events in the surrounding communities for residents to consider this Independence Day week.

Bettendorf kicks things off on theFourth of July with its parade beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will begin at the intersection of 23rd Street and State Street, go west down Grant Street to 16th Street, before ending back at the intersection of State Street and 21st Street. TheFourth of July festival runs from noon until 10 p.m. on Spruce Hills Drive by Cumberland Square and will feature food, live music and family activities. Finally, there will be a fireworks show at dusk on the 4th of July in Middle Park.

Running from Friday, July 5, to Sunday, July 7, Buffalo is hosting its Buffalo Days celebration at Terry Adams Memorial Park. Visitors can expect rides, games, and vendors of crafts and food. On Friday, June 5, people of legal drinking age can participate in a beer mile run, followed by a concert from the Funktastic 5. Saturday features events throughout the day, with a car show in the morning and the fireworks show at dusk. On Sunday the Buffalo Days parade will start at noon.

Clinton will host its celebration all day on Thursday, theFourth of July. Some of the highlights include various sports tournaments in the morning, a parade and an antique tractor show both starting at 1 p.m., and Central Empire Wrestling matches at 4:30 p.m. The festival ends at 6 p.m.in time for the Clinton Lumberkings to host the Burlington Bees at 6:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin after the game.

Coal Valley will host festivities at the Coal Valley City Park from 5-11 p.m. on Friday, July 5. There will be food, beverages, entertainment and activities for kids, along with fireworks in the evening.

DeWitt is having all its events on Thursday the Fourth of July, with a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the DeWitt Community Center sponsored by the DeWitt Noon Lions Club. Their parade starts at 10 a.m., followed by a pork chop lunch at Lincoln Park from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., sponsored by the DeWitt Nite Lions Club. From 10:45 p.m. – 1 a.m. there will be a live DJ performing at Lincoln Park.

East Moline is planning to have fireworks at River Bend Park at dusk on Wednesday, July 3. Events for kids will start at 6 p.m. East Moline will hold several events on Thursday theFourth of July, with the 40th annual Firecracker Run and the East Moline Fire Department Pancake Breakfast in the morning. This year the breakfast is held in honor of former EMFD fire fighter and pancake breakfast founder Fiona Arrizaa, who died on May 8. East Moline will also hold its 66th annualFourth of July parade at 1 p.m. The route starts at 3rd Street and 15th Avenue and ends at 13th Street.

The City of Galva is presenting the Galva Freedom Fest at Wiley Park. On Wednesday, July 3, events will run at the park from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Events will run all day on Thursday, theFourth of July, with a 5k and pancake breakfast in the morning, a parade at noon, and a fireworks display following the national anthem at 9 p.m. At 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, there will be a community church service with a potluck to follow at Wiley Park.

The City of Geneseo is holding its Thrill on the Hill fireworks event on Thursday the 4th of July at Richmond Hill Park. Food, live music, and activities for kids will begin at 5:30 p.m., with fireworks planned to begin at dusk.

Grand Mound, Iowa, will host its Independence Day celebration on Thursday, theFourth of July. The water parade is expected to begin at 2 p.m. and the fireworks show will start at dusk at the Grand Mound ballpark.

The Village of Matherville will host its 56th annual fireworks display on Wednesday, July 3. The event starts at 5 p.m. on the shores of Lake Matherville with food options, kids’ events and a live DJ. Fireworks will begin at dusk.

Moline, Illinois

In Moline, traffic will be closed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on 24th and 25th Avenue between 12th Street and 13th Street for the annual Morgan Park 4th of July parade.

Muscatine will have events on the 4th of July, starting with a kids parade at 9 a.m. from Pearl Plaza to Musser Public Library. The community parade will begin at 4 p.m. in downtown Muscatine, with the “Almost Fireworks Fest” running from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the riverfront. The fireworks display will start at dusk at the riverfront.

Events in Orion begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Orion High School. Food vendors, face painting and live music lead up to skydivers landing at the athletic field at 8:30 p.m. Then the Orion lighted parade begins at 8:45 p.m. at Orion Middle School. Following the parade, there will be a fireworks display at the high school.
