Hi,
My wife came home with a pick yesterday. Supposedly Brian Adams.
It's from her mate who doesn't play guitar.
Apparently he went to see Brian Adams play to 200 people in London. One of his mates invited him. Afterwards he go chatting to Brian, and Brian gave him this pick.
Now I don't know my wife's friend very well. I've met him 5 times over 10 years. Seems nice, seems normal, doesn't seem like the sort of person that stadium filling rock stars play intimate gigs to. He works in the council.
So I don't want to look a gift pick in the mouth, but it just seems an unlikely story!
Dates- non given. Doesn't seem like it was before fame as the pick looks pretty fresh.
What do you think?

Well, it's Bryan (with a Y) Adams and the guitarist is Keith Scott, so the way they've switched the names around on the pick could be either a joke or a sign that it's a tribute band?
But Adams lives in London, or used to. I can imagine them doing a low-key warmup gig.

On what day were you (or the gig goer) presented with the plectrum? Friday, perchance?
Tickets have recently gone on sale for an Adams UK tour. He could have been in town for business or publicity purposes. A secret fan club only appearance is a good way to get word of mouth working for you.
If Adams' organisation is anything like the Richard Thompson one, registered fan club members get a pre-sale day and nab the best seats at every venue.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

I once saw Fat Boy Slim at the height of his popularity at a pub in Brighton doing a set. £3 entry fee. I found out through friends at uni when i was living in halls.

Low key warm-up gig?
Having trouble posting images here? This might help.

Isn't it more likely to belong to Keith Adams and Bryan Scott?

Entirely possible. I saw Coldplay do a small show at Dingwalls in 2012 - that couldn’t have been more than 250 people.

When I was a teenager I went to a Magnum warm up gig. 50 or so people, I guess, in a pub and they played to 2000 sized audiences on that tour. When I was a student Spear of Destiny played our student union a couple of times to try out new material before playing town hall sized venues. So, whilst those were a long time ago I feel that these things do exist. So, it's possible I'm sure.
Bryan seems to have houses in Ontario, London and Paris so a warm up gig in London seems on the cards. He was also quite ill with Covid last year so doing something less pressured makes sense.
So, on balance, I've no idea really.Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

Don't see why it couldn't be true. Big bands play secret small shows all the time.

I went to small value gigs by both Pixies and Idlewild prior to them doing much larger tours.

Prince played a gig at Ronnie Scott`s - recently Richie Sambora was at Bush Hall for a one off gig. When was this?

Aerosmith played at the Marquee in 1990, with Jimmy Page. I failed to get a ticket...

Someone who works for me went to see Bryan Adams at an "intimate" gig at Pryzm in Kingston Upon Thames last month.
A quick Google search says the capacity at Pryzm is 2000, but that may be from its days as a nightclub (It was called Voltz when I was at Kingston Uni in the early 90s) Either way compared to the stadiums and areas he's played at over the years it's pretty "intimate"
Not beyond the realms of possibility that he did an even smaller gig for 200 people while he was here
Defo a bit odd that the names on the pick are mixed up though

The Stones did a series of gigs for their Stripped tour that didn’t have many people at all. It’s perfectly plausible. And who knows when it was.

Keith Scott is Bryan Adams's lead guitarist. It could be that they played a gig under the pseudonyms of Keith Adams and Bryan Scott, much as the Foo Fighters have done gigs as the Holy sh*ts.

There a venue called Trading Boundaries near Sheffield Park Sussex, it’s basically a big country house that sells Oriental furniture, a great restaurant, has a permanently art exhibition by Roger Dean there. It’s also a music venue I doubt if it holds more than 100 people. This year they have Focus for two nights Toyah for one night, earlier in the year they had Yan Ackerman doing three nights, also Curved Air.
Your life will improve when you realise it’s better to be alone than chase people who do not really care about you. SayingYESto happiness means learning to sayNOto things and people that stress you out.
